A picture paints a thousand words. We all know this famous saying and in many cases it has been proven right. When thinking about apartment pictures you should thus keep it in mind! To make life a little easier for you we put together a helpful guide which ensures that your pictures will always be spot on!
9 easy steps to make your Airbnb pictures pop!
1. Take low shots
By taking shots on a lower level the apartment will look more spacious. Taking photos from a low angle is a very important composition rule in photography. You will realise that your photos will look much better when taken from lower than eye level.
Nobody likes shaky pictures. If you do not have a tripod, make at least sure you lean your camera on to something stable every time you take a picture!
Light is probably one of the most important and life-changing factors when taking pictures. In general you should use as much natural light as possible, so try taking your pictures during daytime. If the room has no windows or for some reason you have to shoot when the sun is already gone, make sure to use artificial light. Turn on every lamp in the room and even add a few more, just to make the picture look better!
Photo editing programs should not be used as a replacement for taking decent photos. But if you already have a good picture this will make it pop! Tiny things such as contrast, brightness, warmth, highlights and shadows make a huge difference. Do not worry - you do not have to be an expert with these tools, just play a little around and you will see what looks best!
5. Close up
Got any nice details in your apartment? Show it! Do not zoom in but rather step up to whatever you think is an interesting detail in your apartment. Frame it well, meaning make sure that there are other things in the photo that complement it.
Before taking the picture, take a critical look around you. Simple staging is being mindful of what is in your shot: Clean up electrical cords and any clutter, put away remotes etc. The devil is in the details!
Getting down to the nitty gritty!
7. Carbs, cherries and Cava
When taking pictures you want to show people how homey and cozy your place it. One way to do so is to make use of food requisites! Depending on the atmosphere you want to create, you have different possibilities:
- Fresh, energetic atmosphere: Oranges, strawberries, apples, muffins, croissants, coffee
- Romantic, cozy, relaxed atmosphere: Wine, bread, tomatoes, chocolate, rose petals
Neatly draped on tables, shelves, beds etc. these requisites can help you transport whatever feeling you want your guests to have.
8. Colour accents
Holiday apartments are mostly plainly furnished. But this does not look too good in pictures! That is why you should make use of colour accents. An easy way to do this is to add flowers to your pictures. Tulips, hydrangeas or orchids are used most frequently, because they look really good in pictures! Also you should make sure that they match the colours already used in the room.
9. Books, pillows, blankets
Again - you want people to feel at home when they see your pictures. The best way to achieve this is to play with decorations. A few pretty books on the table in the living room, colour matched pillows on the couch and beds, neatly draped blankets - do not overdo it though.
